Disneyland Updates - Summer 2025

Hey Pixie Dust Travelers!

I had the great privilege of visiting the Disneyland Resort this past April/beginning of May. During this amazing trip, I was able to preview some of the exciting things that are starting to roll out this summer for Disneyland's 70th Anniversary Celebration! I had a preview, but you can experience it in the Disneyland parks NOW!

Disneyland is celebrating a big milestone this summer. On July 17, 1955, Walt Disney welcomed guests to his new theme park. At this park, Walt's dream of creating a place where families could come and laugh and enjoy time together became a reality! In Walt's opening day speech, he famously said, "To all who come to this happy place, welcome."

People continue to flock to this happy place today, and in celebration of this anniversary the park is really dialing up that "happy" theme. From the decorations, to Mickey and his pal's new outfits, to entertainment, treats, and more, Disneyland is covered in all things "happy" this summer!

The 70 ^th celebration officially kicked off on May 16 ^th and will run through summer 2026. Guests will get to enjoy exclusive merchandise and treats throughout the Disneyland resort. There is also new entertainment including a character cavalcade called the "Celebrate Happy Cavalcade", the return of the "Paint the Night Parade", and a special version of "World of Color" titled "World of Color Happiness".

One of the coolest things coming this summer is set to debut on July 17th. "A Magical Life" will debut at Disneyland's Main Street Opera House to celebrate the anniversary. For the first time ever, guests will be able to experience a celebration of Walt Disney's great accomplishments in entertainment by hearing from Walt himself! Disney will be unveiling their most ambitious project yet by bringing in an animatronic version of Walt Disney into the Disneyland park. This presentation of Walt and his dream will bring Walt back to the only Disney park he ever was able to walk in... this is going to be such a special tribute!

Universal's Stella Nova Resort

Universal's Newest Resort!

I recently had the opportunity to tour Universal's Stella Nova Resort. It is located adjacent to Universal Epic Universe. This resort will transport you into another galaxy when you walk through their revolving front door representing a “Black Hole”. Uniquely designed, there are 144 thousand hand dipped in acid pieces to get their own color and placed by number to make the design of a galaxy on the outside of the building.

Rooms:

This resort has 750 rooms that sleep up to four people with two queen beds. Rollaway beds are not available at this resort. Standard or Pool views are offered when booking. Most rooms offer showers, but there are some rooms with bathtubs that you may request. A majority of the rooms are adjoining because their rooms only accommodate up to four people.

Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, & Volcano Bay, they will offer a complimentary shuttle that will be about a 15 minute drive.

Excited for your Disney trip but can’t help but feel guilty that you have to leave your best friend behind for the week? Disney World not only has resor ts that are pet-friendly, but there is also a pet daycare on property! While Disney calls these “pet-friendly” resorts, it’s important to keep in mind that only dogs are permitted as pets in resort hotels at this time.

Hotel Accommodations

There are 4 resorts at Disney World that have designated blocks of pet-friendly rooms (this means guests that have allergies to pets shouldn’t worry, not all rooms at these hotels are pet-friendly!). The rooms have easy access to outdoor walkways and pet relief areas. One of the cutest parts: your pup will receive a complimentary Pluto’s Welcome Kit upon arrival, which for us consisted of a water bowl, placemat, waste bag holder, and Disney dog tag. You will need to let the resort know ahead of time that you plan to bring a pet and each of these resorts have varying nightly fees associated with your pup’s stay, so I’d recommend working with your Pixie Dust Planner to make sure you understand the booking process.

Best Friends Pet Hotel

So it’s great that your pup can stay at your resort with you, but what are they supposed to do all day while you’re at the parks? Pets are not allowed in parks and pet-friendly Disney resorts ask that you check-in on your pup at least every 6 hours. Luckily, there is a pet daycare on property, Best Friends Pet Hotel. You can choose to board your pup for the entire trip, or you can just do daily daycare (this is what we chose to do). Recently, they also started a pick-up and drop-off service from pet-friendly resort hotels. Each morning, my pup was picked up at 7am at the Yacht Club and dropped off at 8pm, so that we could enjoy a full uninterrupted day at the parks without worrying about her. One of the days we finished up early, so I went directly to Best Friends to pick her up and check out the place and while Best Friends is not a Disney-owned company, they did not skip out on the special Disney touches (check out that mural with some famous Disney furry friends!). I cannot recommend the pick-up and drop-off service enough though, as without it you will need to book an Uber or Lyft there and back, which ends up costing more than Best Friends’ pick-up and drop-off service.

A few extra details about Best Friends Pet Hotel: while we didn’t do the overnight stays, you can choose from a handful of really great options that can even include a bedtime story and flat-screen TV in your pup’s unit. Best Friends also can board cats and pocket pets. When booking, you’ll need to have vet records handy so that Best Friends can verify your pet is up to date on vaccinations.

All-in-all, we were so happy that we brought our pup to Disney. From the moment we stepped out of the car at the hotel, we were greeted with the kindest cast members, eager to make sure that not just the humans were happy with their stay! She was even given a “First Disney Visit” button to celebrate.

We’re SOO excited to be here for the opening day of one of our favorite events in Walt Disney World - The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival! Whether you are traveling to Florida soon or thinking about planning a trip, we hope this guide will help you!

The EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival brings fun for kids of all ages. There are incredible topiaries and gardens, outdoor kitchens, the Garden Rocks Concert Series, scavenger hunts, interactive experiences such as a walk through butterfly garden, pop up playgrounds and so much more!

This year, EPCOT’s International Flower and Garden Festival runs for a shorter amount of time than in years past, from February 28th through May 27th. Be sure to consult with your Pixie Dust Planner for a complimentary vacation quote!

This year there are about 20 Outdoor Kitchens and over 60 new items to indulge in! Within all these new menu items, guests should ‘bee’ sure to try delights for the first time like the Cubanito at Florida Fresh and Peach Galette at EPCOT Farmers Feast. Enjoying EPCOT Festivals Throughout the Year

Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park is not to be missed. Having undergone a recent transformation, there are new rides, like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, new experiences such as Journey of Water (inspired by Moana), and newer restaurants like Space 220. All of the classics remain, including the World Showcase. What makes EPCOT truly special are the four festivals they host throughout the year. Each has something unique to offer to for the whole family.

EPCOT International Festival of the Arts (January-February)

The festivals kick off each year in mid January with EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. Lasting through February 19 ^th in 2024, this festival features artists and artwork throughout the park as well as unique food and beverage offerings. A few interactive favorites include Animation Academy, Expressions: A Paint by Numbers Mural, and chalk arts. Figment’s Brush with the Masters is a scavenger hunt fun for the whole family. Artists big and small will delight in the colors and designs all around them.

EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival (March-May)

Next up is my personal favorite, EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival. The park comes alive with beautiful topiaries. There are ample food and beverage offerings that are bright and refreshing. The Garden Rocks concert series hosts musical guests on select nights. Nothing signals spring more than the start of this festival, which begins February 28th in 2024.

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

During the summer and fall months the most well-known of the festivals, EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, delights guests with delicious foods from around the globe. Eat to the Beat concert series and dining packages are available so that your ears can enjoy as much as your taste buds. Several scavenger hunts can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Stay tuned for the 2024 dates!

EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays

When the holiday season is upon us, EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays gets guests in the spirit celebrating traditions from cultures around the world. The iconic Candlelight Processional features celebrity narrators bringing the holidays to life. It wouldn’t be an EPCOT Festival without delicious food offerings, and during this festival they are themed for the holidays. Enjoy a specialty hot chocolate while you take in the holiday decor and listen to carols. This festival typically runs mid-November through the beginning of January.

There are a few tricks to getting the most out of the festivals:

The best way to enjoy EPCOT Festivals is by staying at an EPCOT area resort and having park hoppers. This way you can venture out to the other parks, water parks or Disney Springs during the day and spend your evenings at EPCOT with just a short walk back to your room at night. Disney’s Yacht Club, Disney’s Beach Club, and Disney’s Boardwalk Inn are all excellent options.
Take advantage of the Disney Dining Plan snack credits at the festival. Many of the featured treats can be purchased with your snack credit and several are large enough for sharing. Having each member of your party use their snack credit for a different item allows the group to sample several items.
Add Memory Maker to your Walt Disney World Vacation Package to capture all the specialty photos, as well as all other pictures throughout your stay.
Stop at one of the pavilions to grab a Foodie Guide and purchase any scavenger hunts.

My family has really enjoyed this feature. Adults love the specialty coffees in the morning as well as beer, wine and cordial selections (for those 21 years and older) later in the day. Younger guests love the snacks and dessert offerings.

The Concierge team at your resort is also readily available to provide assistance as needed during your vacation.

Another great perk exclusive to Club Level guests is the ability to book Minnie Van service to and from their resort to Orlando International Airport for a fee (a service not offered otherwise). Minnie Vans are one of our favorite ways to get around Walt Disney World, are driven by trusted Cast Members and booked through the Lyft app when on site (with the exception of airport transportation).

Park Hopping!

All day park hopping is back... and this is why you should add it to your tickets!

I have always been a fan of park hopping. I love the flexibility it brings to each day. However, when Walt Disney World re-opened after its Covid shutdown, park hopping was limited to after 2pm. This was a way to limit crowds and keep infection down. It made sense from a health and staffing standpoint. But, time went by and there was still only park hopping after 2pm and it became harder to see the value for many guests.

I AM HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE, that as of January 9, 2024 all day park hopping is back. Combine this with park reservations no longer being needed for date-based tickets and the value is definitely back!

What is park hopping??? Park hopping is when you spend time in more than 1 park in a given day. For example, you start your day in Magic Kingdom but then head to Epcot for dinner. When you have base tickets, you simply go to 1 park and only that park on a given day.

Don’t get me wrong, park hopping is definitely a “nicety” not a necessity, but you can now easily make a case for purchasing this upgrade and getting really good use out of it. Here are a few reasons why:

Assortment: Walt Disney World has 4 theme parks (not including water parks): Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. They are all fabulous! However, sometimes we just don’t have enough days in our vacation to spend a full day at each of these magical parks. Park hopping is a way to ensure that you get to spend time at each of these amazing spots if you don’t have enough time in your stay for 4 individual park days.

Flexibility: What if you get to Hollywood Studios and your mouth is watering for a Terriyaki Chicken Bun at Epcot? If you have park hoppers, you can jump on the Skyliner or the Friendship Boat and go indulge your craving. Sometimes, unfortunately an attraction temporarily closes for a variety of reasons. I have had days where Pirates of The Caribbean has been closed the entire time I am at Magic Kingdom. With park hoppers, I can go back to Magic Kingdom another day and just do that one ride (or finish off by doubling up on some of my favorites). You can also adjust your plans on the go…purchasing the multiple park option for Genie+ is another wonderful way to help you be spontaneous when park hopping and still not have to worry about waiting in long lines.

Park hopping also allows guests staying at deluxe resorts to enjoy extended hours for deluxe guests (some nights at certain parks), even if that is not the park they chose to visit that day.

Dining and Enchanting Extras: Have you been dreaming of your child getting made over at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique? Is your little one (or you) dying to eat at Cinderella’s Royal Table? These are two very hot commodities. It is much easier to snag a reservation for both of these fabulous venues later in your trip. But maybe you don’t want to wait to do Magic Kingdom on the last day of your trip. There is something just so magical about walking down Main Street USA and seeing Cinderella’s Castle in front of you. If you upgrade to park hoppers you can have both. You can make Magic Kingdom your first park, and then hop over another day for a magical makeover and dinner with the princesses.

Nighttime Spectaculars/Fireworks: Not every park has fireworks and sometimes you just have a favorite that you would love to see over and over again. Park hopping (with valid park ticket) gives you the opportunity to hop over to a different park to see your favorites night after night.

The 4 park challenge. There are a variety of ways to do this, but the most common is when you have 1 snack and ride the top attraction in each of the 4 parks in 1 single day. I personally would find this exhausting, but many love the thrill and excitement and you need park hoppers to complete the challenge.

As you can see, there are many reasons why it can be advantageous to add park hoppers to your package. These are just a few ways that this upgrade can enhance your trip. Make sure to ask your travel planner how park hopper tickets could enrich your personal trip.

Maximizing Your Disney Dining Plan!

Everything you need to know about the Disney Dining Plan:

One of the questions we get the most is, “Is the dining plan worth it?” Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer to that as the dining plan is not a one size fits all kind of plan. Once we know what your plans are, we can help you decide if it is worth it. We also can let you know how to make the most of your credits!

What is the Disney Dining Plan?

It’s an optional package add-on for Guests staying in an on-site Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Simply scan your MagicBand or MagicMobile pass at any of the participating restaurants, stores or carts that accept the Disney Dining Plan and they will deduct the correct amount of credits.

What is the cost?

Adult (Ages 10+) $94.28

Child (Ages 3-9) $26.69

How many credits do I receive?

For each night (not days!) of your reservation, you’ll be allotted a certain number of credits.

1 sit-down credit per person per night
1 quick service credit per person per night
1 snack credit per person per night
1 resort refillable mug per person

So, for example, if you are staying 5 nights and 6 days, you’d receive:

5 sit-down credits per person
5 quick service credits per person
5 snack credits per person

Gratuity is not included except for at Cinderella’s Royal Table.

It’s important to note that credits begin upon check in and expire on midnight the day you check out (even though check out time is 11 am!) So be sure to use up all of your credits. We love to use extra snack credits for take home goods from the resort gift shops. The little character gold coins make the best lunchbox treat!

Does my child under 3 require a Dining Plan?

No, children ages 2 and younger do not require a park ticket or the Dining Plan!

Are all restaurants one credit?

No, some are two credits. These restaurants are known as Signature Restaurants. See our chart below.

What is a snack credit?

Ah, snack credits are our favorites! So many things qualify from Mickey premium ice cream bars to bottles of water! You’ll see the DDP graphic next to anything that qualifies. We suggest using snack credits for items that cost over $5 to get the most out of your credit. We love to stretch our snack credits for some breakfast items at the resort food courts in the morning. Pastries and fruit cups are included.

How to track credits?

We have exciting news! Disney has made this much easier with the return of the dining plan. Credit balances will now be available on your My Disney Experience app. It will also continue to be available at the bottom of your receipts, like in years past. The best way to keep track of your meals and snacks is to go to your app and on the opening page, you will see your Resort listed. Click on "My Resort" and you will scroll down till you see an icon of a clipboard with a fork and knife that says "Check Dining Plan." Every time you use a meal or snack you will see an update on the app with what is left.

I’ve heard of free dining. Does it really exist?

Dining plans can add the convenience and flexibility of prepaid meals and snacks to your vacation and give you peace of mind.

There are more than 200 locations to dine at throughout Disney Resort hotels, theme parks and select locations at Disney Springs. So there’s no shortage of places you can use your credits.

What types of plans are offered?

Choose from either the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan or the Disney Dining Plan as part of a Walt Disney Travel Company Package. Both plans provide everyone in the party (ages 3 and over) a specific number of meals and snacks based on the number of nights of your Disney Resort stay. Do I have to use all of my credits at once? Will the dining plan restrict me?

No, the best part of the dining plan is that you can use your credits how you see fit. Meals and snacks can be redeemed at any time during your stay. Unused meals and snacks will roll over day to day and expire at midnight on day of checkout. For example, if you book a 4-night package with a dining plan that includes one snack per day, each Guest (ages 3 and up) in your party would receive 4 snacks—which can be used at any time during your 4-night stay.

The Great Debate: Left or Right

Have you heard of The Great Debate: Where to Start - Left or Right when you enter EPCOT?

EPCOT is made up of 11 different countries, each with their own magical pavilions. These pavilions make up a giant circular loop around World Showcase Lagoon. Since it is a circular path, you need to decide where to start and where to end. Many people will tell you to head left into the Mexico Pavilion and others will swear by heading right into the Canada Pavilion. Ultimately, the choice is yours!

Guests staying at Disney’s Yacht Club, Beach Club, BoardWalk Inn or Skyliner Resorts have the giant perk of entering through the back entrance. For these guests, there’s one perfect place to start - France!

In clockwise order, the countries are as follows: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, United States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada. We feel that Mexico, France and Norway get the busiest. Now, there’s no wrong way to ‘travel the world’ but there are certainly a lot of opinions!

By Starting left (Mexico), you will avoid the crowds in the later part of the day. By starting right (Canada), you will get to France (think Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure) faster. Also, France has our favorite quick service breakfast option - Crêpes À Emporter by La Crêperie de Paris. When deciding if you are a “Start Left” or a “Start Right” family, we suggest planning out your must-do list!

Disney announced five major changes coming to Walt Disney World Resort in 2024 that are sure to make your visit easier!

2024 Reservations will be available for booking on May 31, 2023!

Dining Plan Bon Appetit!

We are THRILLED to announce that the fan favorite DINING PLAN IS RETURNING IN 2024 as an option to add on to resort packages with stays beginning January 9, 2024! These pre-paid dining plans offer convenience, peace of mind and money savings. There will be two options: quick service dining plan and table service dining plan. All dining plans will include one snack and the famous refillable mug! More details to follow!

Park Pass Reservations

Beginning January 9, 2024, theme park reservations will no longer be required for date-based tickets. This is news to our magical ears! Date-based tickets are the tickets included in packages for resort guests. For other admission types, including non-dated tickets, theme park reservations may be required.

Introducing “Good-to-Go Days”

In 2024, Disney will offer select days on which Annual Passholders may visit Walt Disney World theme parks without needing a park reservation. These Good-to-Go Days will be introduced on an ongoing basis. This will be in addition to the recent update which offers Passholders the opportunity to visit the theme parks after 2 pm without needing a park reservation, except on Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom Park.

Extended Theme Park Hours Continue

Who doesn’t love entering the park before posted opening or staying later than everyone else? Think - perfect picture in front of Cinderella’s Castle or in Galaxy’s Edge! This great benefit gives Guests a jump start on their day. All Disney resort Guests will continue to be able to enter the parks early day. Guests at deluxe resorts and deluxe villas will continue to receive extended evening hours!

Navigating Disney with Little Ones

I have had so many people ask me if it is “worth it” to travel to Disney World when your children are still very young. My answer is always a resounding “Yes!” Whether it is infants, teens, or kids in between, there is something for everyone in Disney World. Traveling with younger kids can always pose unique challenges and especially on such an active trip. Fret not, with a few simple tricks, you can all enjoy the magic!

Use a Stroller
Even with older kids! Bringing a stroller to Disney when your children are little is a no brainer, but I promise you that renting a stroller is a lifesaver. The best part? Your travel planner can make the reservation for you, you get a quality single or double stroller complete with a rain cover and cooler AND it is delivered right to bell services at your resort. No one wants to walk from the back of Magic Kingdom carrying a tired seven year old!
Pack Snacks
Even if you are on the Disney Dining Plan and have snacks included in your package, you do not want to waste those credits on things like crackers, water or granola bars. Your travel planner can help you place an online grocery order that will be delivered to your resort. For a small convenience fee you can have the order delivered right to your room by bell services. Ordering a case of water, Gatorade, juice boxes, cereal, granola bars, crackers, chips, and milk can be really helpful to keep everyone satiated. This is also a great way to save money and maximize your dining plan, but we will save that for another post.
Down Time
While it is difficult to stick to your child’s exact schedule while traveling, honoring nap time and allowing for everyone to rest will help the kids (and you!) from become exhausted. I cannot stress enough that Disney is an active vacation. There is no way to see and do everything, so let your travel planner work with you to understand your “must do’s” and build an itinerary that includes time to relax and recuperate. Each Disney resort also has so much to offer that you’ll want to enjoy some relaxing time there as well.
Keep Your Gear Handy
Pack a bag with all your essentials and restock daily. This may include diapers, wipes and feeding supplies, but it could also be blister band-aids, a dry set of clothes water, and sunscreen. Having a well-stocked bag will ensure that any of your child’s needs can be met and that you avoid having to go to a care center or gift shop to purchase items. Your travel planner can send a complete list of park bag essentials to ensure you have all the things you need.
Ask for What You Need
There is no destination on Earth that is more accommodating that Disney! If your child is in the middle of a meltdown, or has a fever, or can’t find a special toy in a store that they had seen in another location, do not hesitate to ask for help. Cast members will go out of their way to ensure your family is happy. My daughter needed a swim vest at the pool and when I asked a lifeguard if any more were available, a manager had one brought over from a neighboring resort when there was not one in her size available. On another trip my son lost his first tooth and Guest Services gave us a little tooth-shaped box for his tooth and a note from Tinkerbell and an “I’m Celebrating” button. Disney isn’t just about the rides and shows, the magic is woven into their service.

There is no reason to wait on a Disney trip until your children are older. In fact, I tell clients to travel for the first time before their children are three, because then they are free! Disney is magic at any age and while your child may not remember their first glimpse of Cinderella’s Castle, you will hold that magical memory in your heart forever.

Value Resorts:

My favorite value resort on Disney’s property is Disney’s POP Century resort, the theming is geared for children through the decades, everything is larger than life. For the picky younger eaters, there is a food court which gives families more options for food. A big bonus is the skyliner transportation.

Moderate Resorts:

My favorite moderate resorts on Disney’s property is Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a fairly large resort that is very spread out, it features several pools with their main pool being Fuentes del Morro. At night you can witness EPCOT’s fireworks from there. They also have Sebastian’s Bistro which features their amazing Bread Pudding. At this resort you also get to take advantage of the skyliner transportation. *Caribbean Beach Resort is featured in the photo above.

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is a smaller, quieter resort, that gives you all the feels of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Their pool is great for kids that features at sea serpent water slide. You can take a boat ride over to Disney Springs from this resort. And if you’re up for a delicious sweet treat, check out the Mickey shaped beignets.

Deluxe Resorts:

My favorite deluxe resorts on property are Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort hands down in my opinion has the best pool on Disney property, you can spend the day at Stormalong Bay, by renting a cabana, or just hanging out at the beach walk in entry to the pool, this resort features a lazy river, huge slide and more. Yacht Club is also attached to Disney’s Beach Club resort which they feature delicious restaurants to choose from, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Beaches & Cream, Minnie’s Beach Bash at Cape May. Yacht Club is also located on the Boardwalk which is a short walk over to EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance, the skyliner & boat to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s Polynesian Resort will make your feel like you’re on two different vacations when you arrive. The decor and ambiance will make you feel like you’re in the French Polynesia, all while coming back from a day in the Disney parks. The rooms were recently renovated to a Moana theme, and you have access to the monorail to get to Magic Kingdom. It is also the only resort on property that offers Dole whips. You can watch the fireworks from Magic Kingdom nightly from the pool, sandy beach, or your theme park view room. You can also check out Trader Sam’s, Ohana, & Kona Cafe while staying there. This resort is featured in the photo below.
